Ingredients
- 500 g Moong Dal
- 500 g Onion
- 500 g Tomato - Hybrid
- 50 g Asafoetida Powder
- loose Ginger
- 200 ml Mustard Oil
- medium Chilli Green Long
- 100 g Coriander Leaves
- 100 g Jeera
- 100 g Red Chili Powder
- 100 g Salt
- 20 g Turmeric Powder
Instructions
- 1. Rinse the split green gram (moong dal) thoroughly and soak it in water for 4-5 hours or overnight.
- 2. Drain the water and blend the soaked dal with a small amount of fresh water to create a smooth, pourable batter.
- 3. Transfer the batter to a mixing bowl and add chopped green chili, onion, tomato, coriander leaves, turmeric powder, cumin seeds, red chili powder, asafoetida, grated ginger, and salt. Mix well to combine.
- 4. Heat a non-stick pan or tawa over medium heat and lightly grease it with a few drops of oil.
- 5. Pour a ladleful of the batter onto the pan and spread it evenly to form a thin crepe. Cook for 2-3 minutes on one side until golden brown.
- 6. Flip the cheela carefully and cook the other side for another 2-3 minutes until fully cooked.
- 7. Repeat the process with the remaining batter, greasing the pan as needed.
- 8. Serve hot with your choice of fresh coconut chutney or low-fat yogurt for a complete and satisfying breakfast.
