Ingredients

  • 500 g Moong Dal
  • 500 g Onion
  • 500 g Tomato - Hybrid
  • 50 g Asafoetida Powder
  • loose Ginger
  • 200 ml Mustard Oil
  • medium Chilli Green Long
  • 100 g Coriander Leaves
  • 100 g Jeera
  • 100 g Red Chili Powder
  • 100 g Salt
  • 20 g Turmeric Powder

Instructions

  1. 1. Rinse the split green gram (moong dal) thoroughly and soak it in water for 4-5 hours or overnight.
  2. 2. Drain the water and blend the soaked dal with a small amount of fresh water to create a smooth, pourable batter.
  3. 3. Transfer the batter to a mixing bowl and add chopped green chili, onion, tomato, coriander leaves, turmeric powder, cumin seeds, red chili powder, asafoetida, grated ginger, and salt. Mix well to combine.
  4. 4. Heat a non-stick pan or tawa over medium heat and lightly grease it with a few drops of oil.
  5. 5. Pour a ladleful of the batter onto the pan and spread it evenly to form a thin crepe. Cook for 2-3 minutes on one side until golden brown.
  6. 6. Flip the cheela carefully and cook the other side for another 2-3 minutes until fully cooked.
  7. 7. Repeat the process with the remaining batter, greasing the pan as needed.
  8. 8. Serve hot with your choice of fresh coconut chutney or low-fat yogurt for a complete and satisfying breakfast.
