Ingredients
- 1 kg Rice
- 1 kg Yellow Moong Dal
- 200 ml Ghee
- 100 g Kaju Kani
- 50 g Black Pepper
- medium Chilli Green Long
- 50 g Asafoetida Powder
- 100 g Curry Leaves
- 100 g Jeera
- 100 g Salt
- 20 g Turmeric Powder
Instructions
- 1. Wash the rice and moong dal thoroughly and soak them in water for 15 minutes.
- 2. In a pressure cooker, add the soaked rice and moong dal along with turmeric powder and salt. Cook for 3 whistles or until soft and mushy.
- 3. Heat ghee in a pan and add cashews. Fry until golden brown, then remove and set aside.
- 4. In the same pan, add cumin seeds, black pepper, green chili, curry leaves, and asafoetida. Sauté for 1-2 minutes until aromatic.
- 5. Pour the tempered spices into the cooked rice and dal mixture. Mix well to combine.
- 6. Garnish with fried cashews and serve hot with coconut chutney or sambhar.
