Ingredients
- 500 g Moong Dal
- 1 kg Rice
- medium Chilli Green Long
- 250g Ginger
- 500 g Onion
- 200 ml Mustard Oil
- 50 g Black Pepper Powder
- 100 g Coriander Leaves
- 100 g Jeera
- 100 g Salt
- 20 g Turmeric Powder
Instructions
- 1. Rinse the green gram and raw rice thoroughly under cold water, then soak them in water for 6-8 hours or overnight.
- 2. Drain the soaked green gram and rice, then transfer them to a blender along with green chili, ginger, cumin seeds, pepper powder, turmeric powder, and salt. Blend into a smooth batter, adding water gradually to achieve a pouring consistency.
- 3. Heat a non-stick or cast-iron skillet over medium heat. Once hot, lightly grease it with oil and pour a ladleful of the batter onto the center of the skillet. Spread it into a thin circle using the back of the ladle.
- 4. Sprinkle finely chopped onions and coriander leaves over the batter, pressing them gently into the surface of the crepe.
- 5. Drizzle a few drops of oil around the edges of the crepe and cook for 2-3 minutes until the edges turn golden brown and crisp. Flip the crepe and cook for another 1-2 minutes.
- 6. Remove the cooked pesarattu from the skillet and repeat the process with the remaining batter. Serve warm with coconut chutney or a tangy tomato relish.
