Ingredients
- 1 kg Yellow Moong Dal
- 500 g Onion
- 500 g Tomato - Hybrid
- 300 g Ginger Paste
- 200 g Dahi
- 100G Oleo
- 50 g Black Pepper Powder
- 500 g Capsicum Green
- 100 g Coriander Leaves
- 50G Green Chilies
- 100 g Jeera
- 100 g Red Chili Powder
- 100 g Salt
- 20 g Turmeric Powder
Instructions
- 1. Rinse the moong dal thoroughly under running water and soak it in water for 4-6 hours or overnight.
- 2. Drain the soaked dal and blend it into a smooth batter with yogurt, cumin seeds, green chilies, ginger paste, turmeric powder, and a pinch of salt. The consistency should be similar to pancake batter.
- 3. Preheat a non-stick skillet over medium heat and lightly grease it with a few drops of oil.
- 4. Pour a ladleful of batter onto the skillet and spread it gently into a round shape about 1/4 inch thick.
- 5. Sprinkle the chopped onions, tomatoes, bell peppers, and coriander leaves over the top of the batter. Press them down slightly into the batter using a spatula.
- 6. Drizzle a few drops of oil around the edges of the uttapam and cook for 2-3 minutes until the bottom turns golden brown.
- 7. Flip the uttapam carefully and cook the other side for 1-2 minutes until the vegetables are slightly cooked and the uttapam is fully done.
- 8. Repeat the process with the remaining batter and vegetables, greasing the skillet as needed.
- 9. Serve the uttapams hot with mint chutney or coconut chutney for a delicious and healthy breakfast.
