Instructions

  1. 1. Clean and wash the fish fillets thoroughly under running water. Pat them dry using a kitchen towel.
  2. 2. In a mixing bowl, prepare the marinade by combining ginger-garlic paste, turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, garam masala, and salt. Add lemon juice and mix well to form a smooth paste.
  3. 3. Coat the fish fillets evenly with the prepared marinade and let them marinate for 10 minutes to absorb the flavors.
  4. 4. In a separate bowl, prepare the batter by mixing gram flour, rice flour, a pinch of turmeric powder, red chili powder, carom seeds, and a pinch of salt. Gradually add water to form a thick, smooth batter.
  5. 5. Heat oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat. While the oil heats, dip each marinated fish fillet into the batter, ensuring it is evenly coated.
  6. 6. Carefully place the batter-coated fish fillets into the hot oil and fry them in small batches. Cook for 4-5 minutes per side or until the fillets are golden brown and crispy.
  7. 7. Remove the fried fish from the oil using a slotted spoon and transfer them to a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.
  8. 8. Serve the Fish Koliwada hot, garnished with fresh coriander leaves, lemon wedges, and onion rings. Enjoy with green chutney or ketchup.
