Chicken Zunka Bhakri is a hearty and flavorful dish from Maharashtra, India. Ingredients
- 100 g Curry Leaves
- 100 g Coriander Leaves
- 500 g Chicken Whole
- 500 Grms Jowar Atta Millets Atta 500 Grms
- 20 g Turmeric Powder
- - Red Chilli Powder
- 200 ml Mustard Oil
- 100 g Yellow Mustard Seeds
- 100 g Jeera
- 500 g Onion
- 200G Adrak Lasun Paste (200g)
- 500 g Tomato - Hybrid
- medium Chilli Green Long
- - Besan
- 100 g Salt
Instructions
- 1. Clean and wash the chicken pieces thoroughly. Pat them dry and marinate with turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt. Let it rest for 15 minutes.
- 2. Heat oil in a deep pan or kadhai over medium heat. Add mustard seeds and let them splutter. Then add cumin seeds and curry leaves, stirring for 1 minute.
- 3. Add chopped onions and sauté until golden brown. Add the ginger-garlic paste and cook for another 2 minutes until the raw aroma disappears.
- 4. Add chopped tomatoes, green chilies, and a pinch of salt. Cook until the tomatoes turn soft and mushy, approximately 5 minutes.
- 5. Add the marinated chicken pieces to the pan. Stir well to coat the chicken with the masala. Cover and cook for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- 6. Reduce the heat to low and sprinkle the gram flour (besan) evenly over the chicken. Mix well to incorporate the besan into the chicken and masala. Cook for 5-7 minutes until the besan is roasted and coats the chicken, adding a splash of water if needed for desired consistency.
- 7. Garnish with freshly chopped coriander leaves. Serve hot with jowar or bajra bhakri and a side of onion slices and lemon wedges.
