  • 50 Grms Garam Masala Handmade Spices 50 Grms

Instructions

  1. 1. Rinse the lentils (toor dal, masoor dal, and moong dal) thoroughly under running water and soak them for 15 minutes.
  2. 2. Heat 2 tablespoons of oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add cumin seeds, mustard seeds, and curry leaves, letting them sizzle for 30 seconds.
  3. 3. Add chopped onions and sauté until golden brown, about 7 minutes. Then add ginger-garlic paste and cook for another 2 minutes until aromatic.
  4. 4. Add chopped tomatoes, turmeric, red chili powder, coriander powder, and garam masala. Cook until the tomatoes break down and form a paste, about 5 minutes.
  5. 5. Add the chicken pieces to the pot and stir well to coat them in the spice mix. Cook for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  6. 6. Drain the soaked lentils and add them to the pot along with water. Stir, cover, and simmer for 25 minutes until the lentils are soft and the chicken is cooked through.
  7. 7. While the chicken dhansak is simmering, prepare the rice. Wash the basmati rice thoroughly and cook it in a separate pot with water, salt, and a few drops of oil for 15 minutes, or until fluffy.
  8. 8. Once the lentils are fully cooked, use a ladle to slightly mash them for a thicker, creamier consistency. Taste and adjust the seasoning with salt and lemon juice.
  9. 9. Serve the Chicken Dhansak hot with the cooked basmati rice, garnished with fresh chopped cilantro.
