Ingredients
- 100 g Coriander Leaves
- - MASOOR DAL
- 1 kg Rice
- 500 g Onion
- - Tomato Ketchup
- 250g Green Chilli
- 100g Greek Yogurt
- 500 g Tomato - Hybrid
- 20 g Turmeric Powder
- - Cumin Seeds / Jeera Seeds-250 Gms
- 100 g Salt
- 200 ml Mustard Oil
- 1 kg Water Chestnuts
Instructions
- 1. Wash the masoor dal and rice thoroughly under running water and set aside.
- 2. Chop the onion, tomato, and green chili into small pieces and prepare other ingredients.
- 3. Heat oil in a pressure cooker and add cumin seeds, letting them splutter for a few seconds.
- 4. Add chopped onions and green chili, and sauté until onions turn translucent.
- 5. Stir in the chopped tomatoes and cook until softened, forming a light paste.
- 6. Add masoor dal and rice to the cooker, mixing well with the sautéed ingredients.
- 7. Sprinkle turmeric powder and salt, ensuring the spices are evenly distributed.
- 8. Pour water into the cooker and stir to combine everything uniformly.
- 9. Close the pressure cooker lid and cook for 3-4 whistles on medium heat.
- 10. Once the pressure releases naturally, open the lid and check the consistency.
- 11. Garnish the khichdi with freshly chopped coriander leaves for added flavor.
- 12. Serve hot with a side of pickle or yogurt for a complete meal experience.
