Ingredients

  • 1 kg Basmati Rice
  • 500 g Onion
  • - Tomato Ketchup
  • 250g Green Chilli
  • 100 g Jeera
  • 20 g Turmeric Powder
  • - Red Chilli
  • 45 g Garam Masala
  • 100 g Salt
  • 1pc Watermelon
  • - Coriander Powder

Instructions

  1. 1. Wash and soak the basmati rice in water for 20 minutes, then drain.
  2. 2. Heat oil in a deep pan and add cumin seeds, allowing them to crackle for a few seconds.
  3. 3. Add finely chopped onion and sauté until golden brown, stirring frequently.
  4. 4. Stir in the ginger-garlic paste and chopped green chili, cooking for another minute.
  5. 5. Add diced tomatoes and cook until they soften and blend with the onions.
  6. 6. Mix in turmeric, red chili powder, coriander powder, and garam masala, stirring well.
  7. 7. Add the tofu cubes and gently coat them with the spice mixture without breaking them.
  8. 8. Toss in the chopped spinach leaves and cook until they wilt down completely.
  9. 9. Stir in the soaked and drained rice, ensuring it is evenly mixed with the masala.
  10. 10. Pour in water and add salt, bringing the mixture to a gentle boil.
  11. 11. Reduce the heat to low, cover the pan, and cook for 15 minutes or until the rice is tender.
  12. 12. Turn off the heat and let the dish rest, covered, for 5 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
