- - Baby Tomatoes
- 500 g Onion
- 100 g Garlic
- loose Ginger
- - Tomato Ketchup
- 1 kg Rice
- 250g Green Chilli
- 20 g Turmeric Powder
- - Cumin Seeds 100g
- 100 g Salt
- 200 ml Mustard Oil
- - Coriander Powder
- 1 kg Water Chestnuts
Instructions
- 1. Rinse the masoor dal and rice thoroughly under running water and set them aside.
- 2. Chop the tomatoes, onions, green chilies, garlic, and ginger into small pieces.
- 3. Heat oil in a large pot and add cumin seeds; let them sizzle for a few seconds.
- 4. Add chopped onions, garlic, and ginger, and sauté until the onions turn golden brown.
- 5. Stir in the chopped green chilies, turmeric powder, and coriander powder; cook for 1 minute.
- 6. Add the chopped tomatoes and cook until they soften and release their juices, about 5 minutes.
- 7. Add the rinsed masoor dal and rice to the pot, stirring well to coat them with the spices.
- 8. Pour in the water and add salt; stir well to combine all the ingredients.
- 9. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to low and cover the pot with a lid.
- 10. Simmer for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the dal and rice are fully cooked.
- 11. Turn off the heat and let the khichdi rest for 5 minutes before serving.
- 12. Garnish with freshly chopped coriander leaves and serve hot.
