A bold and flavorful Chinese-inspired dinner featuring crispy tofu tossed in a spicy Szechuan sauce. Served with aromatic vegetable fried rice for a satisfying meal.
Ingredients
- - Fresh Tofu
- 1 kg Rice
- 250 g Carrot
- 1 piece Yellow Bell Pepper
- 1 bunch Spring Onion
- 100 g Garlic
- loose Ginger
- 90 g Dark Soy Sauce
- 200 ml Sesame Oil
- 100 g Salt
- 50 g Black Pepper
- 1pc Watermelon
Instructions
- 1. Pat dry the tofu and cut it into small cubes for even frying.
- 2. Coat the tofu cubes in cornstarch and a pinch of salt for crispiness.
- 3. Heat sesame oil in a pan and fry the tofu cubes until golden brown on all sides.
- 4. Remove the tofu and in the same pan, sauté minced garlic and ginger until fragrant.
- 5. Add chopped carrots, capsicum, and spring onions; stir-fry for 5 minutes.
- 6. Stir in the cooked rice, soy sauce, and a pinch of black pepper, mixing well.
- 7. In a separate bowl, mix Szechuan sauce with water to make a smooth paste.
- 8. Pour the Szechuan sauce mixture into the pan and toss the fried tofu to coat evenly.
- 9. Let the tofu simmer in the sauce for 2 minutes to absorb the flavors.
- 10. Serve the Szechuan tofu hot over the vegetable fried rice.
