Ingredients
- 1 kg Yellow Moong Dal
- 1 kg Rice
- 500 g Onion
- - Tomato Ketchup
- 20 g Turmeric Powder
- - Red Chilli
- 100 g Jeera
- 50 Grms Kala Masala Handmade Spices 50 Grms
- 100 g Salt
- - Coriander Powder
- 1pc Watermelon
Instructions
- 1. Wash and soak the rice and moong dal in water for 20 minutes.
- 2. Heat oil in a pressure cooker and add cumin seeds and whole spices.
- 3. Once aromatic, sauté chopped onions until golden brown.
- 4. Add ginger-garlic paste and cook until the raw smell disappears.
- 5. Stir in chopped tomatoes, turmeric, chili powder, and salt, cooking until softened.
- 6. Add the mutton chunks and cook until they are browned and coated with spices.
- 7. Drain the soaked rice and dal, then mix them into the cooker.
- 8. Pour in water, stir, and check seasoning before sealing the cooker.
- 9. Pressure cook on medium heat for 3 whistles or until the mutton is tender.
- 10. Allow the pressure to release naturally, then gently stir the khichdi.
- 11. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves before serving.
