Ingredients
- 100 g Curry Leaves
- - Green Peas
- - Tomato Ketchup
- 250g Green Chilli
- 500 g Tomato - Hybrid
- - Foxtail Millet Flour
- 100 g Yellow Mustard Seeds
- - Cumin Seeds 100g
- 20 g Turmeric Powder
- 100 g Salt
- 200 ml Mustard Oil
- 1 kg Water Chestnuts
Instructions
- 1. Rinse the foxtail millet thoroughly and soak it in water for 15 minutes.
- 2. Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds; let them splutter.
- 3. Add cumin seeds, chopped green chili, and curry leaves, stirring for 30 seconds.
- 4. Add chopped tomatoes and cook until they soften, around 5 minutes.
- 5. Stir in turmeric powder and salt, mixing well with the tomato base.
- 6. Drain the millet and add it to the pan, stirring to coat evenly with spices.
- 7. Pour in the water and bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat.
- 8. Add green peas and reduce the flame to low, covering the pan to let the millet cook.
- 9. Cook until the millet absorbs the water and becomes fluffy, around 12-15 minutes.
- 10. Fluff the upma with a fork and serve hot, garnished with extra curry leaves if desired.
