Ingredients

  • 100 g Coriander Leaves
  • 100 g Garlic
  • 500 g Onion
  • 100 g Ginger
  • 100 Ml Gowardhan Ghee
  • 500 g Whole Farm Premium Bajra/Pearl Millets - 500 G
  • 200 g Table Salt
  • 100 g Jeera
  • 100 g Yellow Mustard Seeds
  • 20 g Turmeric Powder
  • - Red Chilli Powder

Instructions

  1. 1. Rinse 1 cup of millet thoroughly under running water until the water runs clear.
  2. 2. In a medium-sized pot, heat 1 tablespoon of ghee over medium heat.
  3. 3. Add 1 teaspoon of cumin seeds and 1/2 teaspoon of mustard seeds to the pot. Let them splutter for about 30 seconds.
  4. 4. Add 1 finely chopped onion, 1 minced garlic clove, and 1-inch piece of grated ginger to the pot. Sauté until the onion turns translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
  5. 5. Stir in 1/2 teaspoon of turmeric powder, 1/2 teaspoon of coriander powder, and 1/4 teaspoon of red chili powder. Cook for another minute to release the aromas.
  6. 6. Add the rinsed millet to the pot and stir well to coat it with the spices.
  7. 7. Pour in 3 cups of water and add 1/2 teaspoon of salt. Bring the mixture to a boil.
  8. 8. Reduce the heat to low, cover the pot, and let the millet simmer for about 20-25 minutes, or until it is cooked through and has a porridge-like consistency.
  9. 9. Stir in 1/4 cup of chopped cilantro and 1 tablespoon of lemon juice. Adjust salt to taste.
  10. 10. Serve the spiced millet porridge hot, garnished with additional cilantro if desired.
