- 100 g Coriander Leaves
- - MASOOR DAL
- 1 kg Rice
- 500 g Onion
- - Tomato Ketchup
- 250g Green Chilli
- loose Ginger
- 100 g Garlic
- 20 g Turmeric Powder
- - Cumin Seeds / Jeera Seeds-250 Gms
- 100 g Salt
- 1 ltr Pansari Tilsari Edible Vegetable Oil
- 1 kg Water Chestnuts
Instructions
- 1. Rinse the masoor dal and rice thoroughly under running water until the water runs clear.
- 2. Finely chop the onion, tomato, green chili, ginger, and garlic, keeping them ready for cooking.
- 3. Heat vegetable oil in a deep pan and add cumin seeds; let them sizzle for 30 seconds.
- 4. Add chopped onion to the pan and sauté until golden brown, stirring occasionally to avoid burning.
- 5. Stir in the ginger, garlic, and green chili, cooking for about 1 minute until aromatic.
- 6. Add chopped tomato and turmeric powder, cooking until the tomato softens and forms a paste-like consistency.
- 7. Mix in the rinsed masoor dal and rice, stirring well to coat them with the spice mixture.
- 8. Pour in the water and add salt, stirring to combine, then bring to a boil over medium heat.
- 9. Reduce the heat to low, cover the pan, and allow the khichdi to simmer for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- 10. Check if the dal and rice are cooked and the consistency is creamy; adjust water if needed.
- 11. Turn off the heat and garnish with freshly chopped coriander leaves before serving.
