Ingredients
- 1 kg Rice
- 1 kg Yellow Moong Dal
- 500 g Onion
- - Tomato Ketchup
- 250g Green Chilli
- loose Ginger
- - Cumin Seeds / Jeera Seeds-250 Gms
- 20 g Turmeric Powder
- 100 g Salt
- 850 g Sundrop Heart+ Blended Cooking Oil
- 1 kg Water Chestnuts
- - Coriander Powder
Instructions
- 1. Rinse the rice and lentils thoroughly under cold water and drain.
- 2. Finely chop the onion, tomato, green chili, and ginger, and set them aside.
- 3. Heat oil in a pan or pressure cooker and add cumin seeds; let them splutter for a few seconds.
- 4. Add chopped onions and sauté until they turn golden brown, stirring occasionally.
- 5. Stir in the chopped tomato, green chili, and ginger; cook until the tomatoes soften.
- 6. Add turmeric powder and mix well with the sautéed ingredients.
- 7. Add the rinsed rice and lentils; stir to coat them with the spices and vegetables.
- 8. Pour in water and season with salt; stir well to combine everything evenly.
- 9. Cover the pan or pressure cooker and cook on medium heat until the rice and lentils are tender.
- 10. Once cooked, let it rest for a few minutes and fluff lightly with a spoon before serving.
- 11. Serve hot, garnished with a small drizzle of oil or fresh coriander if desired.
