Ingredients
- 500 g Chana Dal
- 500 g Onion
- - Tomato Ketchup
- 100 g Garlic
- loose Ginger
- 250g Green Chilli
- 100 g Jeera
- 20 g Turmeric Powder
- - Red Chilli
- 45 g Garam Masala
- 100 g Salt
- 1pc Watermelon
- - Coriander Powder
Instructions
- 1. Wash and soak the chana dal in water for 30 minutes, then drain and set aside.
- 2. Finely chop the onion, tomatoes, garlic, ginger, and green chili.
- 3. Heat oil in a pressure cooker and add cumin seeds; let them splutter for a few seconds.
- 4. Add chopped onions and sauté until golden brown, stirring occasionally to prevent burning.
- 5. Stir in garlic, ginger, and green chili, cooking for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
- 6. Add tomatoes, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and coriander powder; cook until the tomatoes soften and the oil separates.
- 7. Add the soaked chana dal and mix well with the masala, coating evenly.
- 8. Pour in water and salt, stir, and close the pressure cooker lid. Cook for 4-5 whistles on medium flame.
- 9. Once pressure releases, open the lid and add the chopped spinach leaves. Stir well to combine.
- 10. Simmer the stew for 5-7 minutes until the spinach wilts and blends into the dal.
- 11. Sprinkle garam masala and garnish with fresh coriander leaves.
- 12. Serve hot with steamed rice or roti for a wholesome lunch.
