- 500 g Desi Tomato (Tamatar)
- - Onion-250 Gms
- 110 g Unpeeled Garlic Cloves
- - Ginger Powder
- 100 g Red Chili Powder
- 50 g Everest Cumin Powder
- 100 g Orika Big Mustard Seeds
- 20 g Turmeric Powder
- 1 pack (1 kg) Aashirvaad Crystal Salt | Iodised
- 500 ml Oil (For Frying)
- 1 Bunch Coriander Leaves ( Kottambari Soppu )
Instructions
- 1. Rinse the masoor dal thoroughly under running water and soak for 10 minutes.
- 2. Peel and cube the sweet potatoes into small chunks for faster cooking.
- 3. Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a pan and toast mustard seeds until they crackle.
- 4. Add finely chopped onions, garlic, and ginger powder, sauté until golden brown.
- 5. Stir in chopped tomatoes, turmeric powder, chili powder, cumin powder, and coriander powder; cook until the tomatoes soften.
- 6. Add the soaked masoor dal and water, bring to a boil, then simmer for 15 minutes until the dal is tender.
- 7. Meanwhile, boil the sweet potatoes in water until soft, then drain and mash them in a bowl.
- 8. Mix 1 tablespoon of oil, chili powder, and salt into the mashed sweet potatoes for a spiced flavor.
