A hearty bowl featuring tender soy chunks glazed in a homemade teriyaki sauce, paired with sautéed seasonal vegetables for a balanced and flavorful meal.
Ingredients
- 80 g Soya Chunks
- 1 pc (approx. 500 g to 800 g) Cabbage
- 500 g Onion
- 100 g Garlic
- loose Ginger
- 90 g Dark Soy Sauce
- 500 g Brown Sugar
- 200 ml Mustard Oil
- 1 kg Water Chestnuts
- 100 g Salt
- 1 l Soyabean Oil
Instructions
- 1. Soak the soy chunks in hot water for 10 minutes until softened.
- 2. Peel and julienne the carrots; shred the cabbage and slice the onion thinly.
- 3. In a small bowl, mix soy sauce, brown sugar, cornstarch, water, grated garlic, and ginger to prepare the teriyaki sauce.
- 4. Heat vegetable oil in a pan and sauté onions until translucent and fragrant.
- 5. Add the carrots and cabbage to the pan and cook for 5 minutes on medium heat until slightly tender.
- 6. Drain the soaked soy chunks, squeeze out excess water, and add them to the pan with the vegetables.
- 7. Pour the prepared teriyaki sauce into the pan and stir well to coat the soy chunks and vegetables evenly.
- 8. Cook for another 5–7 minutes on low heat until the sauce thickens and everything is well glazed.
- 9. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed, adding a pinch of salt or more soy sauce.
- 10. Serve hot in bowls, garnished with a sprinkle of sesame seeds if desired.
