- - Mustard Seeds
- 20 g Turmeric Powder
- - Red Chilli
- 250g Green Chilli
- - Smiles-crispy Happy Potatoes-750 Gms
- 200 ml Mustard Oil
- 500 ml Water
- 10G Salt
- 250g Coriander
Instructions
- Step 1: Clean the fish thoroughly, rinse it under cold water, and pat it dry. Rub the fish with 1 tsp turmeric powder and 1 tsp salt. Set aside for 10 minutes to marinate.
- Step 2: Heat 2 tablespoons of mustard oil in a heavy-bottomed pan over medium heat for 2 minutes until the oil begins to shimmer. Fry the marinated fish pieces for 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown. Remove and set aside.
- Step 3: In a small blender, grind mustard seeds, garlic, and green chilies with 2 tablespoons of water to form a smooth paste. Ensure the paste is fine and not grainy.
- Step 4: Heat the remaining 1 tablespoon of mustard oil in the same pan. Add diced tomatoes and cook for 5 minutes until soft and pulpy. Add the mustard paste, red chili powder, and 1/2 tsp turmeric powder. Stir well and cook for 3 minutes until the spices are aromatic.
- Step 5: Add 500 ml of water to the pan and bring it to a boil. Add diced potatoes and simmer for 10 minutes until the potatoes are halfway cooked.
- Step 6: Gently place the fried fish into the pan, ensuring they are submerged in the sauce. Cover and simmer for 10 minutes on low heat until the fish is tender and the potatoes are fully cooked.
- Step 7: Garnish with chopped coriander leaves before serving. Serve hot with steamed rice for a wholesome lunch.
