Ingredients

  • 1 kg Rice
  • - MASOOR DAL SPECIAL 500GM
  • 200 g Spinach (Palak)
  • 500 g Desi Tomato (Tamatar)
  • - Onion-250 Gms
  • 100 g Garlic - Single Clove
  • loose Ginger
  • 100 g Popular Essentials Jeera (Cumin Seeds)
  • 20 g Turmeric Powder
  • - Red Chilli Powder
  • 100 g Catch Super Garam Masala
  • 500 ml Oil (For Frying)
  • 1 pack (1 kg) Aashirvaad Crystal Salt | Iodised
  • 1 Bunch Coriander Leaves ( Kottambari Soppu )

Instructions

  1. 1. Rinse the rice thoroughly and soak it in water for 15 minutes before cooking.
  2. 2. Wash the lentils thoroughly and set them aside for later use.
  3. 3. Heat oil in a pan and add cumin seeds, letting them sizzle for a few seconds.
  4. 4. Finely chop the onion, garlic, ginger, and tomato, then sauté them in the pan until soft and aromatic.
  5. 5. Add turmeric, red chili powder, coriander powder, and salt to the pan, stirring well to combine.
  6. 6. Stir in the lentils and pour in 300 ml of water, then cook for 15 minutes on medium heat until the lentils soften.
  7. 7. While the lentils cook, boil the rice in 200 ml of water until tender, then drain any excess water.
  8. 8. Add the spinach to the lentils and cook for another 5 minutes until wilted, mixing well.
  9. 9. Sprinkle garam masala over the lentil mixture and adjust the seasoning if needed.
  10. 10. Serve the cooked rice in bowls, topping it with the lentil-spinach mixture.
