Hearty Moong Dal Khichdi recipe

Ingredients

  • 100 g Coriander Leaves
  • 500 g Moong Dal
  • 1 kg Rice
  • 250g Green Chilli
  • loose Ginger
  • 20 g Turmeric Powder
  • - Cumin Seeds / Jeera Seeds-250 Gms
  • 1 ltr Pansari Tilsari Edible Vegetable Oil
  • 100 g Salt
  • 1 kg Water Chestnuts
  • - Coriander Powder

Instructions

  1. 1. Wash the moong dal and rice thoroughly under running water and soak them for 20 minutes.
  2. 2. Heat oil in a pressure cooker and add cumin seeds, letting them splutter for a few seconds.
  3. 3. Add finely chopped ginger and green chili to the cooker, sautéing until aromatic.
  4. 4. Add the soaked moong dal and rice to the cooker, stirring well with the spices.
  5. 5. Add turmeric powder and salt, mixing evenly into the rice and dal mixture.
  6. 6. Pour in 2 cups of water and stir, ensuring no lumps form in the mixture.
  7. 7. Close the pressure cooker lid and cook on medium heat for 3 whistles.
  8. 8. Allow the pressure to release naturally before opening the cooker lid.
  9. 9. Garnish the khichdi with freshly chopped coriander leaves before serving.
