Ingredients
- 100 g Coriander Leaves
- 500 g Moong Dal
- 1 kg Rice
- 250g Green Chilli
- loose Ginger
- 20 g Turmeric Powder
- - Cumin Seeds / Jeera Seeds-250 Gms
- 1 ltr Pansari Tilsari Edible Vegetable Oil
- 100 g Salt
- 1 kg Water Chestnuts
- - Coriander Powder
Instructions
- 1. Wash the moong dal and rice thoroughly under running water and soak them for 20 minutes.
- 2. Heat oil in a pressure cooker and add cumin seeds, letting them splutter for a few seconds.
- 3. Add finely chopped ginger and green chili to the cooker, sautéing until aromatic.
- 4. Add the soaked moong dal and rice to the cooker, stirring well with the spices.
- 5. Add turmeric powder and salt, mixing evenly into the rice and dal mixture.
- 6. Pour in 2 cups of water and stir, ensuring no lumps form in the mixture.
- 7. Close the pressure cooker lid and cook on medium heat for 3 whistles.
- 8. Allow the pressure to release naturally before opening the cooker lid.
- 9. Garnish the khichdi with freshly chopped coriander leaves before serving.
