About this recipe

A rich and comforting Halal-friendly French onion soup, perfect for dinner. This vegetarian version uses flavorful vegetable stock and is ideal for those seeking a hearty yet simple meal solution.

Ingredients

  • 125 g Mooz Butter Garlic & Herbes
  • 100 g Sambar Onion Peeled
  • 80 g Knorr Vegetables Stock Cubes
  • 1 Kg Red Lotus Special Flour
  • 1 kg Tata Salt (Vacuum Evaporated Iodised)
  • 1 pack (100 g) Tata Sampann Pure Black Pepper Powder

Instructions

  1. 1. In a large pot, bring 6 cups of water to a boil and dissolve 2 vegetable bouillon cubes to create a flavorful stock. Set aside.
  2. 2. In a Dutch oven or large pan, pour in 4 cups of vegetable stock over medium heat until it begins to simmer.
  3. 3. Add 4 thinly sliced onions to the pan and cook, stirring occasionally, until they are golden brown and caramelized, about 20-25 minutes.
  4. 4. Sprinkle 1/3 cup of flour over the onions and stir well to coat. Cook for 2-3 minutes to remove the raw flour taste.
  5. 5. Gradually add the prepared vegetable stock to the pan, stirring constantly to avoid lumps. Season with 1 tsp salt and 1/2 tsp black pepper.
  6. 6. Bring the soup to a boil, then reduce the heat and let it simmer for 10 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together.
  7. 7. Taste and adjust seasoning as needed. Serve hot with crusty bread or a side of your choice.
