- 100 g Coriander Leaves
- 1 kg Basmati Rice
- 500 g Moong Dal
- 500 g Onion
- - Tomato Ketchup
- 100 g Jeera
- 20 g Turmeric Powder
- 45 g Garam Masala
- 100 g Salt
- - Bay Leaf
- 1 l Soyabean Oil
Instructions
- 1. Rinse the basmati rice and moong dal thoroughly under running water.
- 2. Heat vegetable oil in a large pan and add cumin seeds and bay leaf until aromatic.
- 3. Dice the onion, tomato, carrots, and green beans into small pieces and add them to the pan.
- 4. Sauté the vegetables for 5 minutes until softened and lightly golden.
- 5. Stir in turmeric, red chili powder, garam masala, and salt, mixing well with the vegetables.
- 6. Add the rinsed rice and moong dal to the pan, gently mixing to coat them with the spices.
- 7. Pour in water and bring to a boil, then reduce the heat to a simmer and cover the pan.
- 8. Cook for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the rice and lentils are tender and absorb the water.
- 9. Remove the bay leaf and fluff the pilaf with a fork to separate the grains.
- 10. Garnish with freshly chopped coriander leaves before serving.
