Ingredients

  • 500G Tata Masoor Dal M
  • 250 g Carrot
  • - Tomato Ketchup
  • 500 g Onion
  • 100 g Garlic
  • loose Ginger
  • 250g Green Chilli
  • 20 g Turmeric Powder
  • 100 g Jeera
  • 45 g Garam Masala
  • 100 g Salt
  • - Coriander Powder
  • 1pc Watermelon

Instructions

  1. 1. Rinse the masoor dal thoroughly under running water until the water runs clear.
  2. 2. Peel and dice the carrot, finely chop the green beans, onion, garlic, ginger, and green chili.
  3. 3. Heat vegetable oil in a handi or deep pan and add cumin seeds until they crackle.
  4. 4. Sauté the chopped onion, garlic, and ginger until golden and fragrant.
  5. 5. Add the diced tomato, green chili, turmeric, coriander powder, and salt. Cook until the tomatoes soften.
  6. 6. Stir in the rinsed lentils and mix well to coat them with the spice mixture.
  7. 7. Pour in water and bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat.
  8. 8. Lower the heat, cover, and let it simmer for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  9. 9. Add the chopped carrots and green beans to the handi and cook for another 10 minutes until tender.
  10. 10. Sprinkle garam masala and mix well, ensuring the flavors are evenly combined.
  11. 11. Garnish with freshly chopped coriander leaves before serving.
  12. 12. Serve hot with steamed rice or enjoy as a standalone dish.
