Ingredients

  • 1 kg Yellow Moong Dal
  • 200 g Spinach (Palak)
  • - Onion-250 Gms
  • 500 g Desi Tomato (Tamatar)
  • 100 g Garlic - Single Clove
  • loose Ginger
  • 20 g Turmeric Powder
  • 100 g Popular Essentials Jeera (Cumin Seeds)
  • - Red Chilli Powder
  • 1 pack (1 kg) Aashirvaad Crystal Salt | Iodised
  • 500 ml Oil (For Frying)

Instructions

  1. 1. Rinse the yellow lentils thoroughly under running water and soak them for 15 minutes.
  2. 2. Heat vegetable oil in a pan, then add cumin seeds and let them splutter for 30 seconds.
  3. 3. Add finely chopped garlic, ginger, and onion to the pan, sautéing until golden and fragrant.
  4. 4. Stir in turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt, cooking for another minute to toast the spices.
  5. 5. Add diced tomatoes and cook until soft and blended with the spices, stirring occasionally.
  6. 6. Drain the lentils and add them to the pan, mixing well to coat them in the spice mixture.
  7. 7. Pour in water and bring to a boil, then lower the heat to simmer and cook the lentils until tender.
