Ingredients

  • 1 pack (1 kg) 921 Everyday Long Grain Rice
  • 1 kg Yellow Moong Dal
  • 250 g Spinach
  • 500 g Onion
  • - Tomato Ketchup
  • - Ginger Powder
  • 20 g Turmeric Powder
  • - Cumin Seeds / Jeera Seeds-250 Gms
  • - White Pepper
  • 100 g Salt
  • 850 g Sundrop Heart+ Blended Cooking Oil

Instructions

  1. 1. Rinse the rice and yellow moong dal thoroughly under running water until clear.
  2. 2. Heat oil in a pan, then add cumin seeds and fry until aromatic for about 30 seconds.
  3. 3. Add finely chopped onion and sauté until golden brown, stirring occasionally.
  4. 4. Stir in diced tomatoes, ginger powder, turmeric powder, white pepper, and salt. Cook for 2-3 minutes until softened.
  5. 5. Add the rinsed lentils and water to the pan, cover, and simmer for 15 minutes until lentils are tender.
  6. 6. Rinse and chop the fresh spinach into bite-sized pieces, discarding any tough stems.
  7. 7. Add the spinach to the pot and cook for another 5 minutes until wilted and well combined.
  8. 8. Meanwhile, cook the rice in a separate pot with 300 ml of water until fluffy, about 12 minutes.
  9. 9. Fluff the cooked rice with a fork and divide evenly into serving bowls.
  10. 10. Spoon the lentil and spinach mixture over the rice, ensuring an even distribution of ingredients.
