- Pcs Balaji Moong Dal
- 1 kg Rice
- 200 g Spinach (Palak)
- 500 g Desi Tomato (Tamatar)
- - Onion-250 Gms
- 100 g Garlic - Single Clove
- medium Chilli Green Long
- loose Ginger
- 20 g Turmeric Powder
- 100 g Popular Essentials Jeera (Cumin Seeds)
- - Red Chilli Powder
- 100 g Catch Super Garam Masala
- 1 pack (1 kg) Aashirvaad Crystal Salt | Iodised
- 140 g Modern Kitchens Raita Boondi - 100 % Rice Bran Oil
- 1 Bunch Coriander Leaves ( Kottambari Soppu )
Instructions
- 1. Wash the moong dal and rice thoroughly under running water and soak them for 20 minutes.
- 2. Heat 1 tablespoon oil in a pressure cooker and add cumin seeds until they splutter.
- 3. Add chopped onion, garlic, ginger, and green chilies, sautéing until golden and fragrant.
- 4. Stir in turmeric powder, coriander powder, and garam masala, cooking for 30 seconds.
- 5. Add the soaked dal and rice to the cooker along with 600 ml water and salt.
- 6. Close the lid and pressure cook for 3 whistles, then let it cool naturally.
- 7. Meanwhile, heat 2 tablespoons oil in a pan and sauté finely chopped tomatoes for 5 minutes.
- 8. Add red chili powder and a pinch of salt to the tomatoes, stirring well to make the relish.
- 9. In a separate pan, lightly sauté fresh spinach with a pinch of salt until wilted.
- 10. Once the khichdi is ready, gently mix in the sautéed spinach and adjust seasoning if needed.
- 11. Transfer the khichdi to serving bowls and garnish with fresh coriander leaves.
- 12. Serve the khichdi hot with the spiced tomato relish on the side.
