Ingredients
- 1 kg Yellow Moong Dal
- 1 kg Rice
- 100 g Jeera
- 20 g Turmeric Powder
- - Red Chilli
- loose Ginger
- 100 g Garlic
- 500 g Onion
- - Tomato Ketchup
- 200 ml Mustard Oil
- 100 g Salt
- 1pc Watermelon
- - Bay Leaf
- 250g Green Chilli
Instructions
- 1. Wash and soak the moong dal in water for 15 minutes while preparing other ingredients.
- 2. Rinse the spinach leaves thoroughly, chop them finely, and set aside.
- 3. Heat mustard oil in a pan, add cumin seeds, bay leaf, and sauté until aromatic.
- 4. Add chopped onions, garlic, and ginger; cook until onions turn golden brown.
- 5. Stir in chopped tomatoes, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt; cook until tomatoes soften.
- 6. Add the soaked moong dal and water; bring to a boil and simmer for 15 minutes.
- 7. Mix in the chopped spinach and green chilies; cook for another 5 minutes until spinach wilts.
- 8. While the dal is simmering, cook rice with cumin seeds and a pinch of salt in boiling water until tender.
- 9. Drain the cooked rice, fluff it with a fork, and set it aside for serving.
- 10. Adjust the consistency of the dal by adding water if required; check seasoning and adjust if needed.
- 11. Serve the dal hot, paired with the fragrant jeera rice for a wholesome dinner.
