Ingredients

  • 100 g Quinoa
  • 1 kg Yellow Moong Dal
  • 500 g Onion
  • - Tomato Ketchup
  • 250g Green Chilli
  • 100 g Garlic
  • loose Ginger
  • 20 g Turmeric Powder
  • 100 g Jeera
  • - Coriander Powder
  • 100 g Salt
  • 1pc Watermelon

Instructions

  1. 1. Rinse the quinoa and lentils thoroughly under running water and set aside.
  2. 2. Heat oil in a pan and add cumin seeds; let them crackle for a few seconds.
  3. 3. Add chopped onions to the pan and sauté until they turn golden brown.
  4. 4. Stir in minced garlic, ginger, and green chilies, cooking for 1 minute to release their aroma.
  5. 5. Add diced tomatoes and cook until they soften and form a semi-thick paste.
  6. 6. Mix in turmeric powder, coriander powder, and salt, stirring to combine the spices evenly.
  7. 7. Add the rinsed lentils and quinoa to the pan, stirring to coat them with the spice mixture.
  8. 8. Pour water into the pan, and bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat.
  9. 9. Cover the pan with a lid, reduce to low heat, and let it simmer for 20 minutes until the quinoa and lentils are cooked through.
  10. 10. Remove the lid and fluff the pilaf gently with a fork to separate the grains.
  11. 11. Garnish with freshly chopped coriander leaves before serving warm.
