- 100 g Quinoa
- 1 kg Yellow Moong Dal
- 500 g Onion
- - Tomato Ketchup
- 250g Green Chilli
- 100 g Garlic
- loose Ginger
- 20 g Turmeric Powder
- 100 g Jeera
- - Coriander Powder
- 100 g Salt
- 1pc Watermelon
Instructions
- 1. Rinse the quinoa and lentils thoroughly under running water and set aside.
- 2. Heat oil in a pan and add cumin seeds; let them crackle for a few seconds.
- 3. Add chopped onions to the pan and sauté until they turn golden brown.
- 4. Stir in minced garlic, ginger, and green chilies, cooking for 1 minute to release their aroma.
- 5. Add diced tomatoes and cook until they soften and form a semi-thick paste.
- 6. Mix in turmeric powder, coriander powder, and salt, stirring to combine the spices evenly.
- 7. Add the rinsed lentils and quinoa to the pan, stirring to coat them with the spice mixture.
- 8. Pour water into the pan, and bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat.
- 9. Cover the pan with a lid, reduce to low heat, and let it simmer for 20 minutes until the quinoa and lentils are cooked through.
- 10. Remove the lid and fluff the pilaf gently with a fork to separate the grains.
- 11. Garnish with freshly chopped coriander leaves before serving warm.
