Ingredients

  • 1 kg Jackfruit
  • - Baby Tomatoes
  • 100 g Garlic
  • loose Ginger
  • 100 g Jeera
  • 20 g Turmeric Powder
  • - Red Chilli
  • 45 g Garam Masala
  • 1 kg Rice
  • - Coriander Powder
  • 100 g Salt
  • 1pc Watermelon

Instructions

  1. 1. Peel and chop the raw jackfruit into bite-sized pieces, removing the tough outer skin.
  2. 2. Heat vegetable oil in a pan, add cumin seeds, and let them crackle for a few seconds.
  3. 3. Add finely chopped onions, garlic, and ginger; sauté until golden and fragrant.
  4. 4. Stir in the chopped tomatoes, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and coriander powder; cook until the tomatoes are soft and the oil separates.
  5. 5. Add the jackfruit pieces to the masala and mix well to coat them evenly.
  6. 6. Pour in water, cover the pan, and simmer for about 15 minutes until the jackfruit is tender.
  7. 7. Sprinkle garam masala and adjust salt; mix well and cook for another 2 minutes.
  8. 8. In a separate pot, fluff the cooked rice and mix in a pinch of cumin seeds for added flavor.
  9. 9. Plate the cumin rice and ladle the jackfruit masala generously over it.
  10. 10. Garnish with freshly chopped coriander leaves before serving.
