This fragrant rice bowl combines fluffy turmeric-spiced basmati rice with perfectly cooked boiled eggs, garnished with crispy onions and fresh herbs for a comforting dinner bursting with flavor.
Ingredients
- 1 kg Basmati Rice
- 6 pcs White Eggs
- 20 g Turmeric Powder
- 100 g Jeera
- 100 g Salt
- 1pc Watermelon
- - Coriander Powder
Instructions
- 1. Rinse the basmati rice under cold water until the water runs clear.
- 2. In a medium pot, heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil and toast the cumin seeds until aromatic.
- 3. Add the rinsed rice to the pot, followed by turmeric powder, salt, and water. Stir gently to combine.
- 4. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to low and cover the pot with a tight-fitting lid.
- 5. Let the rice cook for 15 minutes until tender, then turn off the heat and allow it to rest, covered, for 5 minutes.
- 6. In a separate pot, boil the eggs for 8 minutes for a firm yet creamy texture, then cool them in ice water and peel.
- 7. Heat the remaining 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a pan and lightly sear the boiled eggs for a golden crust.
- 8. Fluff the cooked rice with a fork and transfer it to serving bowls.
- 9. Place two boiled eggs on top of each rice bowl and sprinkle with crispy fried onions.
- 10. Garnish with freshly chopped coriander leaves and serve warm.
