Ingredients
- 500G Tata Masoor Dal M
- 1 kg Rice
- 20 g Turmeric Powder
- 100 g Jeera
- 50 g Cloves
- - Bay Leaf
- 250g Green Chilli
- loose Ginger
- 100 g Coriander Leaves
- 100 g Salt
- 1pc Watermelon
- 50G Handmade Udid Papad (50g)
- 200 ml Mustard Oil
Instructions
- 1. Rinse the masoor dal and rice thoroughly under running water until clean.
- 2. Heat oil in a pressure cooker, add cumin seeds, cloves, bay leaf, and sauté until aromatic.
- 3. Add finely chopped ginger and slit green chilies, cooking for a minute to infuse flavors.
- 4. Stir in turmeric powder and rinsed dal and rice, mixing well to coat in spices.
- 5. Pour in water and add salt, stirring to combine all ingredients evenly.
- 6. Close the lid of the pressure cooker and cook for 3 whistles on medium heat.
- 7. Let the pressure release naturally before opening the lid to check consistency.
- 8. Roast the papads on an open flame or in a microwave until crisp and golden.
- 9. Garnish the khichdi with freshly chopped coriander leaves for a burst of freshness.
- 10. Serve the khichdi hot, accompanied by the roasted papads for added crunch.
