- 1. Cut the firm tofu into bite-sized cubes and pat them dry using a kitchen towel.
- 2. In a mixing bowl, combine chickpea flour, rice flour, turmeric powder, red chili powder, cumin powder, black salt, and regular salt.
- 3. Gradually add water to the flour mixture while stirring to create a smooth batter that is thick enough to coat the tofu.
- 4. Heat oil in a deep pan over medium heat until hot enough for frying.
- 5. Dip each tofu cube into the batter, ensuring it is fully coated, and carefully place it into the hot oil.
- 6. Fry the tofu cubes in batches for 3–4 minutes per batch, turning occasionally, until golden and crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels.
- 7. For the chutney, blend mint leaves, coriander leaves, green chilies, garlic cloves, lemon juice, and a pinch of regular salt into a smooth paste using a small amount of water if needed.
- 8. Adjust the chutney consistency by adding water as desired and taste to balance the flavors.
- 9. Serve the crispy tofu poppers hot with the tangy mint chutney on the side for dipping.
