Instructions

  1. 1. Cut the tofu into rectangular fingers, approximately 1 cm thick, and pat them dry with a clean kitchen towel.
  2. 2. In a mixing bowl, combine rice flour, cornstarch, red chili powder, turmeric, coriander powder, garam masala, salt, and black pepper.
  3. 3. Lightly coat the tofu fingers in the dry spice-flour mixture, ensuring all sides are evenly covered.
  4. 4. Heat oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat until it reaches frying temperature (around 180°C).
  5. 5. Carefully drop the coated tofu fingers into the hot oil in small batches to avoid overcrowding.
  6. 6. Fry the tofu until golden-brown and crispy, flipping occasionally for even cooking, about 6-8 minutes per batch.
  7. 7. Remove the tofu fries from the oil using a slotted spoon and place them on a paper towel to drain excess oil.
  8. 8. Sprinkle the fried tofu fingers with a dash of lemon juice and garnish with freshly chopped coriander leaves.
  9. 9. Serve the crispy tofu masala fries hot with your favorite chutney or a side of yogurt dip for extra flavor.
