Ingredients

  • - Dry Rose Petals
  • 200 ml Coconut Milk
  • 1 kg Basmati Rice
  • 500 g Onion
  • - Tomato Ketchup
  • 100 g Garlic
  • loose Ginger
  • 20 g Turmeric Powder
  • - Cumin Seeds / Jeera Seeds-250 Gms
  • - Red Chilli
  • 100 g Curry Leaves
  • 1 ltr Pansari Tilsari Edible Vegetable Oil
  • 100 g Salt
  • 1 kg Water Chestnuts
  • - Coriander Powder

Instructions

  1. 1. Rinse the red lentils thoroughly under running water until the water runs clear.
  2. 2. Finely chop the onion, tomato, garlic, and ginger and set them aside for cooking.
  3. 3. Heat the vegetable oil in a pan over medium heat and add cumin seeds until they sizzle.
  4. 4. Add the chopped onion and sauté until golden brown, about 5 minutes.
  5. 5. Stir in the garlic, ginger, and curry leaves, cooking for another 2 minutes until fragrant.
  6. 6. Add the chopped tomato and cook until softened and the oil begins to separate, about 4 minutes.
  7. 7. Mix in turmeric powder, coriander powder, and red chili powder, stirring well for 1 minute.
  8. 8. Add the rinsed lentils, water, and salt, and bring to a boil over medium heat.
  9. 9. Reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for 15 minutes until the lentils are soft.
  10. 10. Pour in the coconut milk and stir well, letting it cook for another 5 minutes for a creamy texture.
  11. 11. While the lentils are simmering, cook the basmati rice in a separate pot according to package instructions.
