Ingredients
- - Dry Rose Petals
- 200 ml Coconut Milk
- 1 kg Basmati Rice
- 500 g Onion
- - Tomato Ketchup
- 100 g Garlic
- loose Ginger
- 20 g Turmeric Powder
- - Cumin Seeds / Jeera Seeds-250 Gms
- - Red Chilli
- 100 g Curry Leaves
- 1 ltr Pansari Tilsari Edible Vegetable Oil
- 100 g Salt
- 1 kg Water Chestnuts
- - Coriander Powder
Instructions
- 1. Rinse the red lentils thoroughly under running water until the water runs clear.
- 2. Finely chop the onion, tomato, garlic, and ginger and set them aside for cooking.
- 3. Heat the vegetable oil in a pan over medium heat and add cumin seeds until they sizzle.
- 4. Add the chopped onion and sauté until golden brown, about 5 minutes.
- 5. Stir in the garlic, ginger, and curry leaves, cooking for another 2 minutes until fragrant.
- 6. Add the chopped tomato and cook until softened and the oil begins to separate, about 4 minutes.
- 7. Mix in turmeric powder, coriander powder, and red chili powder, stirring well for 1 minute.
- 8. Add the rinsed lentils, water, and salt, and bring to a boil over medium heat.
- 9. Reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for 15 minutes until the lentils are soft.
- 10. Pour in the coconut milk and stir well, letting it cook for another 5 minutes for a creamy texture.
- 11. While the lentils are simmering, cook the basmati rice in a separate pot according to package instructions.
- 12. Garnish the lentils with freshly chopped cilantro and serve hot over the cooked rice.
