Chilled Indian Yellow Pea Soup Recipe

A refreshing and flavorful Jain-friendly soup made with yellow peas, aromatic spices, and a cooling yogurt garnish. Perfect for a light dinner solution.
Ingredients
- 100 g Premium Green Chilli
- 100 g X 3 Mtr Turmeric Powder | Arisina Pudi Combo
- 250 ml Dabur Hommade Lemon Juice (Bottle)
- 100 g Jk Jeera Powder / Cumin Powder
- 100 g X 3 Mtr Coriander Powder Combo
- 100 g Catch Sprinklers - Iodized Table Salt
- 50 g On1Y Black Peppercorns With Grinder
- 500 g Tata Sampann Unpolished Yellow Moong Dal (Dhuli) Split
Instructions
- 1. Pick over the yellow peas to remove any grit, then wash and drain them thoroughly.
- 2. Place the drained peas in a large saucepan with 5 1/2 cups of water and 1/2 teaspoon turmeric. Bring to a boil over medium heat.
- 3. Reduce the heat to low, cover the saucepan, and simmer for 90 minutes or until the peas are tender. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
- 4. Transfer the cooked peas and their liquid to a blender or use a hand blender directly in the pot. Add 2 tablespoons of lemon juice, 1 teaspoon ground cumin, 1 teaspoon ground coriander, 1 chopped green chile, 1/4 teaspoon, 1 teaspoon salt, and 1/2 teaspoon black pepper. Blend until smooth.
- 5. Pour the blended soup into a serving bowl and refrigerate until chilled, about 1 hour.
- 6. Before serving, garnish the soup with a sprinkle of ground cumin.
