Ingredients
- 500G Tata Masoor Dal M
- 200 ml Mustard Oil
- 20 g Turmeric Powder
- - Red Chilli
- 50 g Cumin Powder
- - Garlic Paste
- 300 g Ginger Paste
- 500 g Onion
- - Tomato Ketchup
- 250g Green Chilli
- 100 g Salt
- 1pc Watermelon
- - Coriander Powder
Instructions
- 1. Wash the chicken drumsticks thoroughly and pat dry using a kitchen towel.
- 2. Marinate the chicken with turmeric, red chili powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, garlic paste, ginger paste, and a teaspoon of mustard oil for 15 minutes.
- 3. Wash the masoor dal and soak it in water for 10 minutes while prepping other ingredients.
- 4. Heat a tablespoon of mustard oil in a pan and sear the marinated chicken for 5 minutes until golden brown on all sides.
- 5. Remove the chicken from the pan and set aside. In the same pan, sauté chopped onions until translucent.
- 6. Add chopped tomatoes and green chilies to the pan and cook for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- 7. Add the soaked masoor dal to the pan along with 500 ml of water. Stir well and bring to a boil.
- 8. Reduce the heat to low, add the seared chicken drumsticks, and cover the pan. Let it simmer for 20 minutes until the dal is cooked and the chicken is tender.
- 9. Check for seasoning and adjust salt as needed. If the dal is too thick, add a little more water to achieve desired consistency.
- 10. Garnish with freshly chopped coriander leaves before serving.
