Ingredients

  • - Fresh Tofu
  • 900 G Kikkoman Naturally Brewed Dark Soy Sauce
  • 1 kg Whole Farm Brown Sugar
  • 40 g On1Y Ginger Powder
  • 567G Canz Water Chestnut

Instructions

  1. 1. In a square baking dish (8 x 8-inch), mix 1 cup soy sauce, 1/2 cup brown sugar, and 1/8 teaspoon ground ginger until the sugar dissolves.
  2. 2. Cut the plant-based bacon strips and firm tofu into halves. Slice the tofu into bite-sized pieces.
  3. 3. Wrap each piece of tofu and a slice of water chestnut in a piece of plant-based bacon. Secure with a toothpick.
  4. 4. Place the wrapped pieces into the marinade, ensuring they are fully coated. Cover and refrigerate for 2 hours.
  5. 5. Remove the marinated pieces from the dish and drain off excess marinade. Place them on a double layer of paper towels.
  6. 6. Arrange the pieces on a microwave-safe plate. Microwave on High for 5 minutes.
  7. 7. Reduce the microwave power to Medium and continue cooking until the plant-based bacon is browned and crispy, about 12 to 18 minutes. Rotate the plate every 3 to 5 minutes for even cooking.
  8. 8. Allow the pieces to cool slightly before serving. Enjoy your Asian-Style Tofu Rumaki as a delicious appetizer or snack.
