Ingredients

  • 250 Gms Poppy Seeds
  • 500 ml Water
  • - Smiles-crispy Happy Potatoes-750 Gms
  • 200 ml Mustard Oil
  • 250g Green Chilli
  • 20 g Turmeric Powder
  • 10G Salt
  • 500 G Sugar

Instructions

  1. Step 1: Prepare the poppy seed paste by grinding the soaked poppy seeds into a smooth paste using minimal water. Set aside.
  2. Step 2: Heat mustard oil in a pan until it reaches its smoking point, then reduce the heat to medium.
  3. Step 3: Add the slit green chilies and sauté for 30 seconds to release their aroma.
  4. Step 4: Add the potato cubes, turmeric powder, and a pinch of salt. Stir well to coat the potatoes with the oil and turmeric.
  5. Step 5: Cover the pan and cook the potatoes on low heat for about 8-10 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking.
  6. Step 6: Once the potatoes are partially cooked, add the prepared poppy seed paste, water, sugar, and adjust salt as per taste.
  7. Step 7: Mix everything thoroughly, cover again, and cook for another 5-7 minutes until the potatoes are soft and the gravy thickens slightly.
  8. Step 8: Turn off the heat and let the dish rest for 2 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
  9. Step 9: Serve warm with steamed rice or enjoy it as a light breakfast on its own.
