Ingredients
- - Frozen Mixed Vegetables
- 20G Curry Leaves
- - Red Chilli
- 500 Gms Pearl Barley
- - Mustard Seeds
- 100 G Asafoetida / Hing 100 G
- 500 ml Water
- 500 g Toor Dal
- 500 g Ghee
- 10G Salt
- 500 g Rice
Instructions
- Step 1: Cook the soaked barley and toor dal separately until soft. Use a rice cooker for even and hassle-free cooking. Drain and set aside.
- Step 2: In a large pan, heat 2 tablespoons of ghee. Add mustard seeds and let them splutter. Then add curry leaves, dry red chilies, and asafoetida.
- Step 3: Add the mixed vegetables to the pan and sauté for 5 minutes until slightly soft.
- Step 4: Mix in the Bisi Bele Bath powder and tamarind pulp. Stir well to combine. Add 3 cups of water and bring to a boil.
- Step 5: Add the cooked barley and toor dal to the pan. Mix thoroughly and let simmer on medium heat for 10-15 minutes, ensuring the flavors blend well.
- Step 6: Adjust the salt and consistency with hot water if necessary. Finish by drizzling the remaining ghee over the dish.
- Step 7: Serve hot with papad or boondi on the side for added crunch.
