Ingredients

  • 500 g Prawns
  • - Mustard Seeds
  • 250 Gms Poppy Seeds
  • 500 ml Water
  • 250g Green Chilli
  • 20 g Turmeric Powder
  • 200 ml Mustard Oil
  • 10G Salt

Instructions

  1. Step 1: Grind the soaked mustard seeds and poppy seeds into a smooth paste using a little water. Add 1 green chili during grinding for extra flavor.
  2. Step 2: Marinate the cleaned prawns with turmeric powder and a pinch of salt. Set aside for 10 minutes.
  3. Step 3: Heat mustard oil in a pan until it reaches a smoking point. Then lower the heat.
  4. Step 4: Add the marinated prawns to the oil and sauté for 2-3 minutes until they turn slightly golden. Remove and set aside.
  5. Step 5: In the same oil, add the mustard-poppy seed paste, slit green chilies, and a splash of warm water. Cook for 2-3 minutes on medium heat.
  6. Step 6: Add the sautéed prawns back into the pan, mix well, and cook for another 5 minutes until the prawns are fully cooked and the gravy thickens.
  7. Step 7: Adjust salt and spice levels. Serve hot with steamed rice.
