Ingredients
- 1 Kg Hilsa Fish
- - Mustard Seeds
- 250 Gms Poppy Seeds
- 250g Green Chilli
- 20 g Turmeric Powder
- 10G Salt
- 200 ml Mustard Oil
Instructions
- Step 1: Grind the soaked mustard seeds and poppy seeds together into a smooth paste, adding a small amount of water as needed.
- Step 2: Rub the Hilsa fish steaks with turmeric powder and salt. Set aside for 10 minutes.
- Step 3: Heat mustard oil in a pan until it starts smoking. Reduce the heat and gently add the fish steaks. Fry lightly on both sides for about 1 minute each and remove from the pan.
- Step 4: In the same pan, add the mustard-poppy seed paste, slit green chilies, and a little water to create a sauce. Cook for 2-3 minutes on medium heat.
- Step 5: Gently place the fried fish steaks into the sauce. Cover and simmer for 10-12 minutes, allowing the fish to absorb the flavors.
- Step 6: Adjust the salt if needed and serve hot with steamed rice.
