Ingredients

  • 1 kg Yellow Moong Dal
  • 500 g Onion
  • 500 g Tomato - Hybrid
  • - Rice Flour
  • 100G Oleo
  • medium Chilli Green Long
  • 100 g Coriander Leaves
  • 50g Everest Garam Masala
  • 100 g Jeera
  • 100 g Red Chili Powder
  • 100 g Salt
  • 20 g Turmeric Powder

Instructions

  1. 1. Drain the soaked moong dal and blend it into a smooth batter using a blender or food processor. Add a few tablespoons of water if necessary to achieve a pancake batter-like consistency.
  2. 2. Transfer the batter to a mixing bowl and stir in the finely chopped onion, tomato, green chili, coriander leaves, turmeric powder, cumin seeds, garam masala, red chili powder, and salt. Mix well to combine.
  3. 3. Add the rice flour to the batter and mix thoroughly to improve the texture and binding of the chilla.
  4. 4. Heat a non-stick tawa or flat skillet over medium heat and grease it lightly with a few drops of oil.
  5. 5. Pour a ladleful of the batter onto the hot tawa and spread it gently in a circular motion to form a thin crepe. Drizzle a few drops of oil around the edges.
  6. 6. Cook the chilla on medium heat for 2-3 minutes or until the bottom turns golden brown. Flip it carefully and cook the other side for another 2 minutes.
  7. 7. Remove the cooked chilla from the tawa and repeat the process with the remaining batter.
  8. 8. Serve the hot moong dal chilla with mint chutney or low-fat yogurt for a wholesome breakfast.
