About this recipe

A hearty and wholesome dinner dish combining tender spiced chicken with the comforting flavors of lentil and rice khichdi, perfect for a balanced and satisfying meal.

Ingredients

  • - Bay Leaf
  • 1 kg Basmati Rice
  • 1 kg Yellow Moong Dal
  • Pcs Chings Masala Chicken Chilli
  • - Onion
  • 250g Green Chilli
  • 500 g Ghee
  • 20 g Turmeric Powder
  • - Red Chilli
  • 100 g Coriander Powder
  • 100g Garam Masala
  • 10G Salt
  • 250g Coriander

Instructions

  1. Heat the ghee and oil in a large pot or pressure cooker over medium heat.
  2. Add cumin seeds and bay leaf. Sauté until fragrant, about 30 seconds.
  3. Add the chopped onion and sauté until golden brown.
  4. Stir in the ginger-garlic paste and green chilies. Cook for 1-2 minutes until the raw smell disappears.
  5. Add the chicken pieces and cook until lightly browned on all sides, about 5 minutes.
  6. Mix in the chopped tomato, turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, and salt. Cook until the tomatoes are soft and the spices are well incorporated.
  7. Drain the soaked rice and lentils and add them to the pot. Stir gently to combine.
  8. Pour in 4 cups of water and bring to a boil. If using a pressure cooker, close the lid and cook for 2 whistles. If using a pot, reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for 20-25 minutes until the rice and lentils are cooked and the mixture has a porridge-like consistency.
  9. Sprinkle garam masala and fresh coriander leaves on top before serving.
