- 500 ml Cooking Sake
- loose Ginger
- 100 g Garlic
- 500 g Sugar
- 1.8 Ltr Sakura Hon Mirin Cooking Vinegar
- 500 Ml Champion Oil
- 90 g Dark Soy Sauce
- - Corn Starch Powder
Instructions
- 1. Gather all ingredients: 300g boneless chicken thighs, 3 tbsp soy sauce, 2 tbsp mirin, 2 tbsp sake, 1 tbsp sugar, 1 tbsp vegetable oil, 1 tsp grated ginger, 1 tsp minced garlic, 1 tbsp cornstarch (optional, for thickening), and sesame seeds and chopped spring onions for garnish.
- 2. Cut the chicken thighs into bite-sized pieces and set aside.
- 3. In a small bowl, prepare the teriyaki sauce by combining soy sauce, mirin, sake, sugar, grated ginger, and minced garlic. Mix well until the sugar dissolves.
- 4. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or frying pan over medium heat.
- 5. Add the chicken pieces to the pan and cook for 4-5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the chicken is lightly browned and cooked through.
- 6. Pour the prepared teriyaki sauce over the chicken in the pan. Stir to coat the chicken evenly.
- 7. Reduce the heat to low and let the chicken simmer in the sauce for 3-4 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
- 8. If you prefer a thicker sauce, mix 1 tbsp cornstarch with 2 tbsp water in a small bowl to create a slurry. Add this to the pan and stir until the sauce thickens.
- 9. Once the sauce reaches your desired consistency, remove the pan from the heat.
- 10. Transfer the chicken teriyaki to a serving dish and garnish with sesame seeds and chopped spring onions.
- 11. Serve hot with steamed rice or noodles as a main dish for 2-3 servings.
