Ingredients

  • 1 kg Yellow Moong Dal
  • - Rice Flour
  • 200 ml Mustard Oil
  • 50 g Asafoetida Powder
  • medium Chilli Green Long
  • 100 g Coriander Leaves
  • 100 g Jeera
  • 100 g Red Chili Powder
  • 100 g Salt
  • 20 g Turmeric Powder

Instructions

  1. 1. Wash the moong dal thoroughly and soak it in water for 4-5 hours or overnight.
  2. 2. Drain the soaked dal and blend it into a smooth batter using a blender, adding a little water if necessary.
  3. 3. Transfer the batter to a bowl and mix in the chopped coriander leaves, green chili, cumin seeds, turmeric powder, red chili powder, asafoetida, salt, and rice flour to create a smooth and slightly thick consistency.
  4. 4. Heat a tawa or flat pan on medium heat and lightly grease it with oil.
  5. 5. Pour a ladleful of the batter onto the hot tawa, spreading it evenly into a round shape to form a pancake.
  6. 6. Cook the cheela on medium heat for 2-3 minutes until the underside turns golden brown, then flip and cook the other side for 2 minutes.
  7. 7. Repeat the process to make more cheelas, adding oil to the tawa as needed.
