Ingredients

  • 1 kg Yellow Moong Dal
  • - Rice Flour
  • loose Ginger
  • 200 ml Mustard Oil
  • 50 g Asafoetida Powder
  • medium Chilli Green Long
  • 100 g Coriander Leaves
  • 100 g Jeera
  • 100 g Red Chili Powder
  • 100 g Salt
  • 20 g Turmeric Powder

Instructions

  1. 1. Wash the yellow moong dal thoroughly and soak it in water for 4 hours or overnight.
  2. 2. Drain the soaked dal and blend it into a smooth batter using a mixer or blender, adding a small amount of water as needed.
  3. 3. Transfer the batter into a mixing bowl and stir in rice flour, green chili, cumin seeds, turmeric powder, red chili powder, asafoetida, chopped coriander leaves, grated ginger, and salt. Mix well to form a thick, pourable batter.
  4. 4. Heat a non-stick tawa or skillet on medium heat and lightly grease it with oil.
  5. 5. Pour a ladleful of batter onto the tawa and spread it gently into a thin round pancake. Cook for 2-3 minutes until the edges begin to crisp.
  6. 6. Flip the pancake and cook the other side for another 2 minutes, adding a few drops of oil around the edges if needed.
  7. 7. Repeat the process with the remaining batter, adjusting the heat as necessary to avoid burning.
  8. 8. Serve the Pesarattu hot with coconut chutney or tomato chutney for a refreshing breakfast experience.
