Ingredients
- 1 kg Yellow Moong Dal
- - Rice Flour
- 200 g Dahi
- 1 box Baking Soda
- 200 ml Mustard Oil
- medium Chilli Green Long
- 100 g Coriander Leaves
- - Coriander Powder
- 100 g Jeera
- 100 g Salt
- 20 g Turmeric Powder
Instructions
- 1. Rinse the moong dal thoroughly and soak it in water for 3-4 hours or overnight.
- 2. Drain the soaked dal and grind it into a smooth batter using a blender, adding yogurt for consistency.
- 3. Transfer the batter to a mixing bowl and stir in the rice flour, cumin seeds, coriander powder, turmeric powder, green chili, and salt. Mix well to combine.
- 4. Let the batter rest for 15 minutes, then stir in the baking soda and chopped coriander leaves just before cooking.
- 5. Grease the idli molds with oil and pour the batter into each mold, filling them about 3/4 full.
- 6. Steam the idlis in an idli steamer or pressure cooker (without the whistle) on medium heat for 12-15 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- 7. Carefully remove the idlis from the molds and serve hot with coconut or tomato chutney.
