Ingredients

  • 1 kg Yellow Moong Dal
  • 1 kg Rice
  • 500 g Onion
  • 250 g Carrot

  • medium Chilli Green Long
  • 100 g Coriander Leaves
  • 100 g Jeera
  • 100 g Salt
  • 1 liter Sunflower Oil
  • 500 g Tomato - Hybrid
  • 20 g Turmeric Powder

Instructions

  1. 1. Rinse the moong dal and rice thoroughly under running water, then soak them together in water for 4-6 hours.
  2. 2. Drain the soaked dal and rice, and grind them into a smooth batter using a blender, adding a little water for consistency. The batter should be slightly thick.
  3. 3. Transfer the batter to a bowl and mix in turmeric powder, cumin seeds, salt, and black pepper powder. Let it rest for 15 minutes.
  4. 4. Prepare the vegetable topping by combining chopped onion, tomato, green chili, coriander leaves, and grated carrot in a mixing bowl.
  5. 5. Heat a non-stick skillet or dosa tawa over medium heat and lightly grease it with oil.
  6. 6. Pour a ladleful of batter onto the skillet and spread it gently into a thick pancake. Sprinkle the vegetable mixture evenly over the batter.
  7. 7. Drizzle a few drops of oil around the edges and cook for 2-3 minutes until the bottom is golden brown. Flip and cook the other side for 2 minutes.
  8. 8. Repeat the process with the remaining batter and vegetable topping to make additional uttapams.
  9. 9. Serve hot with coconut chutney or sambar for a complete and satisfying meal.
